How about this for a fantastic, yet little-known fact: While women do not own nearly as many businesses as men, the companies they do own tend to be more successful!

After 17 years in business for myself, I am not surprised.

This is a very big deal according to a French bank, BNP Paribus, and a consulting firm they hired to survey more than 2,500 participants in Europe, the US. Asia, and the Middle East.

Women run businesses generate nearly a $1 million (USD) more in sales revenue annually than their male counterparts, according to Annie Pilon, who wrote about this for Small Business Trends.

The survey also found that women launch more businesses annually now than men do. (Read the full article at Small Business Trends).

Maybe it’s girl power. I don’t know, but I think it’s great. Women need to have more confidence in themselves that they can start a business and succeed. The evidence undeniably bears it out.

A survey respondent is quoted as saying “There is no difference between a man and a woman in the entrepreneurial word. However, women often lack the confidence to start a business. They need to believe in themselves more.”

So true, don’t you think? I am positive a woman’s confidence to pursue her dream varies in different parts of the world, but the message holds true everywhere. Be confident, be bold, there is nothing to hold you back! It’s already a given that women are talented and successful entrepreneurs.

Pursue your dreams!

Something else pointed out by the author has to do with family history influencing people to go into business. Very high percentages of both women and men going into business for themselves have a family history of it.
